does anyone know when the poll questions are asked , and how are they verified

I believe that they ask the studio audience but cannot be sure

Slightly late to the party here but they don't ask the audience, I've been in it.

If memory serves Richard has said it's done randomly online, which is probably why the final rounds based on entertainment are more difficult to get a Pointless answer on than others.

I believe it's through Quizology, an online polling organisation. I don't know if they somehow prevent you from simultaneously looking stuff up on the net, but I guess they do, otherwise you'd get all kinds of obscure answers not being pointless.

It's hard to look stuff up on the net in only 100 seconds. If you do that, you won't get many answers.
