The movie is fine, but the music is beautiful.
Abigail Breslin and Alessandro Nivola are a perfect match for each other, and as a music duo they are incredible. I've really enjoyed listening to them.

i couldn't agree more. it sounds so cliche when the American Idol judges tell their young hopefuls to make songs their own and expose their soul to the world, feeling the music...but here with this film, the director and his daughter have so clearly done that. the film's authentic voice shines - and the actors are extremely well cast. there is never enough shue on film, and her acting is always spot on, so her fans will watch it just for her, and yes, alessandro and abigail's chemistry was incredible to watch - both with acting, emotion and musical performances. award worthy. you really feel the transformation with him - i hadn't heard of him before but i will look for that actor again.
such a beautiful film. i think i'll buy a copy of the dvd.
