I Miss This Show
I'm currently hooked on "The Affair," which, like this show, is full of horribly flawed characters you can't help but like anyway. I used to put "Enlightened" on DVD for my mom (who died last year), and we would analyze the hell out of every episode.
Things I loved about this show:
- Laura Dern's beautifully retro wardrobe and the retro house her mother lived in. So classic.
- The incongruity between the character's desire to make the world right and her terrible temper. I know so many people with "Coexist" bumper stickers who could easily kill someone who took their parking space.
- Mike White. Enough said.
- The horrible, stale, boring, mind-numbing, confusing corporate work environment that reminded me every time I watched the show how freaking HAPPY I am to be self-employed, even though I work 15 hours a day.
- The writing. Enough said.
They were dumb to cancel it, but I'm glad we got some resolution at the end. If you are a fan of "The Glades," you know how important this is. I just still miss this show. What a treasure it was.
