Movie set in...?

Was this movie supposed to be set in 2011? Everything seemed so old fashioned (the cars, the clothes, people's view of men being the "bosses" in a relationship, although these were of course views from older people...). The only thing "fashionable" was that a woman on the bus had a cell phone.
