Um Yeah, nothing like the Stellar film Videodrome. But you know, I've only seen one opinion here, "pretty decent indie horror film." I must say in MY opinion (which Everyone has! Differing opinions are great I believe!!) I disagree Strongly.
I thought it was an AWFUL indie film that totally let me down!! What really upset me was, the cinematography was great, shot Very well, even pretty good cast overall, ect. And all that for a low budget indie film, especially!! BUT, what was wrong was the god awful PLOT. Specifically upsetting how basically, until the LAST 5-10 MINUTES, (but there is foreshadowing thought the film of: uh, oh no..this Might end up being a "waste of time film," but never dreamed it WOULD be and on That level!!) you REALIZE that it really IS awful. No clever twist(s), that my mind was racing with though out the movie; there were SO many senerios that Could have happened to make it STUNNING plot wise, thus stunning overall because of the great way it was shot/acting/ect.
That was what was so upsetting to me, it could have EVEN been a 10/10 film perhaps, if the plot wasn't total garbage/Bafflingly Poor. It COULD HAVE been SAVED MANY TIMES though the film. But they did the worst job possible and I actually FEEL BAD telling my Blunt and Honest Opinion (which I STILL WILL ALWAYS give..) if the makers read this. Do they get that they had HUGE POTENTIAL here??!
~SPOILERS~ A FEW of 100s of things: The lead male could have been part the friends' psyche, but NOT in a "Fight Club" rip off way. The male lead could have been a GENIUS killer who planned FAR AHEAD & was leaving town to set the friend up (like the indie film Rampage), this was MY main theory. The friend could have been them killer, as he was, but for a DEEP reason other than his jealously of his friends life/his loneliness/the friend moving away/ect. (and he even got a HOT waitress, who seemed to even be more than a FLING!! Things were looking up for him..But: he was "just a psycho." That's the BEST they could do??!) Or even something WAY out there that would have been dumb, BUT INTERESTING/an EFFORT than TOTALLY PREDICTABLE, like: the new "punk" waitress, was the TRUE killer all along. Meticulously setting these guys up, because she was in one of their old indie horror films back as collage wannabe filmmakers; who they screwed over her somehow drastically, she snapped, changed her appearance MORE DRASTICALLY and set it ALL up for mass revenge.
I had SO many different ideas: from good to poor, but what I got was ..THAT??! The last shot as the closing credits began, I was so upset/let down more than I have been in a LONG time!! Again, FEEL BAD giving my Honest opinion (yeah I'm an imbd forum anomaly; haha. ..I'm just an anomaly as a human in MANY ways actually) because, I Seriously feel bad for the writer/director/makers. Its almost like they were working toward something genius, but just gave up the last minute for no Explainable reason!! (like the film itself, irony..) I SAY you guys shouldn't give up film making, just find/get better writer(s)!! Anyway my review/rant/And Please remember just MY OPINIONS/ect. Really a shame..this VERY PROMISING looking indie film. :(
