BioShock 1 and 2 are great companion pieces! *spoilers*

While there are some who just say outright that BioShock 1 > 2, I would like to think of them as terrific stories that work well together. The first dealing with the concepts of objectivism and how it can go horribly wrong, while the second deconstructs altruism in a society. Both games deal with identity, but in different ways; in the first game, you're a man who realizes he was created for a machine-like purpose who finds his true self after finding a family (the Little sisters), while the second game has the player fill the shoes of a man without an identity who finds it when reconnecting with his 'daughter.' This is of course assuming both games had "good" endings. Both show that ideologies can be perverted into monstrous forms and, in the end, it's family that is the most important aspect of one's life.
