Overall was mightily impressed by the sequel. I haven't played the 1st game for a good while, so was great to revisit this universe.

One thing I noticed however was how the little sisters were almost 'prettied up'.

In the first game they are gaunt with freakishly large eyes, and are quite disturbing. they definitely look far cuter in this game, which made them less creepy for me personally. Looked like grown women's heads on childrens bodies, which in its own way is slightly disturbing.

Overall great, but I want to go back and play the original again to remind myself of the differences.

I think (I could be wrong) that that was a conscious decision. In the first game you play as an outside so you see the little sisters as these grotesque strange things.

In the sequel, you play as someone who loves a little sister, and yearns to adopt and be a father to them. I think that's why in your new eyes, they seem a lot more "attractive" if I could use that word in an entirely non-sexual manner.

Yeah, also I just realized the little sisters would have aged since the first game, as it takes place 8 years later. This obviously changes their appearance.

Your reasons make perfect sense however, but I think it slightly removed the disturbing element the first game had. Also as far as dream sequences go, I don't think as Delta, you are seeing Rapture through rose-tinted eyes. You're seeing it for how it is, so I doubt you would be semi-hallucinating the little sisters to look less scary.

They obviousy make clear breaks of this when you get flashes of rapture in its heyday, and obviously the brilliant little sister sequence.

But minor quibble in a great sequel.

I think it's because the Little Sisters were taken from the surface from within a year or so before the game so they'd not been in Rapture that long and been less weathered by the experience.

I just assumed they made the Little Sisters look like actress Jodelle Ferland who voiced them. Growing up, Jodelle's hair was very long and mostly worn down. Below are pictures I could find to give you an idea.
