The b*tches of Broward county who couldnt become real professionals...

You see they couldn't become say a lawyer or doctor...they had to settle for law enforcement. And so these cops walk around with chip on their shoulders

Too funny...

A lot of cops do have a chip on their shoulder. I completely agree. They aren't always right (though they tend to think so), but isn't it kind of natural considering the territory? You pretty much have to look at them like soldiers. There's some battle scars going on here.

Plus, what makes a lawyer anymore of a "real" career choice than a cop? If anything, you could argue some of these dirtbags are getting put back on the streets because of some lawyer somewhere.

Very sensible reply, Quaid is Hauser. Yes, many cops are arrogant and have big egos because of the power trip they are on............however, what you point out is very logical. When all one is subjected to is human nature at its worst, and seeing the basest, most despicable side of people and what they do to one another, it is understandable that that will imprint on them in some way. Perhaps only 5% of society are the "dirtbags" that cops have to deal with, but to them, that 5% is 100% of their job. So one can see how their views and attitudes might be disproportionately skewed in a negative direction.

And to the poster who thinks doctors and lawyers are innately more respectable professions because there are minimum educational requirements: does that prevent these lawyers and doctors from getting busted for soliciting a prostitute? From buying drugs? No, because ultimately, outside of one's title and profession, they are all human, and subject to the same random selection of vice and virtue as any other human being. So why don't people quit being ignoramuses and painting everyone with the same brush just because of the category they fall into? That is the real intellectual failure.

There are some total whackos on this board. They sound like the people getting arrested on this show to be honest; simply anti-autgority, law, order.

I'm not some guy who sits here and never questions cops, authority or government. I;m not a sheep. But that's not to say I don't think we need them.

reply

Exactly, Quaid. Frankly, their dismissive attitude toward hard narcotics like crack and heroin and how the addicts "aren't hurting anyone" is pretty telling.

And no, I know what you mean about the cops and questioning authority. They are often wrong, and the stories about tasering, police brutality, and eliciting false confessions is enough to corroborate that. But to paint them all with that brush and deride their "lack of education" is done by somebody who doesn't understand the profession. I think your comparison to soldiers was a good one.......we may not always agree with or approve of what the cops are doing, but the good ones are an integral part of keeping society safe, and put up with enough abuse that they should be getting support for the work they do, instead of more scorn.

As an aside, I also think anyone who wants to make fun of the "dumb cops" doesn't truly understand the social intelligence it takes to deal with suspects, elicit their cooperation, and navigate the various manipulation tactics used against them on a daily basis. Plus, let's see how cynical someone like that would be on a ride-along if bullets started flying......after they finished wetting their pants and crying for mama, they would probably not feel like mocking the responsibilities of the cops any longer.

As a Broward resident, I am proud of these women and feel safer knowing they are on the job. I'm a mom with two young girls and can't imagine dealing with the stuff they deal with!
I live in a very safe area, but I know the areas they work in. I would not go there during the day, let alone at night. Andrea Penoyer especially amazes me. She is so tiny compared to the men on her squad but I doubt a perp notices the difference.
All of the women on this show are very bright and great role models for young girls.

So, basically, anyone who has a criminal record or has been arrested by these, or cops in general has some "inside track?" Sorry, but I don't think one needs to be a felon to understand the logic here. Nihilistic subversives who think Jungle Law and Darwinism should be allowed to rule our society don't like the big bad cops telling them what to do? Sorry, but you just fleshed out the exact type of person who is a cop-hater: a loser with a criminal record.

it's hard for you to realize that since you're 14.

Man, you are waaaaaaay off base. But anyway. I will infer that if you wrote something serious, libelous, slanderous, felonious or threatening enough on the internet to make the cops come after you, the bottom line is, you were still in the wrong. Period. The cops don't come chasing after people because they got in an "I'm rubber you're glue" argument over the internet.

And no, I don't live in Beverly Hills, but the only time I have ever had to deal with the cops is when they were either a) on my side; or b) I was exceeding the speed limit or not wearing my seat belt, both of which, while trivial, are violations of the Highway Traffic Act and therefore against the law.

If you want to bust someone's chops for "preying on easy targets" don't attack the cops, who, quite frankly, are just the blue collar guys who enforce the laws. Go after the guys who put the laws on the books in the first place.
