Better than I expected
After hearing so much hate for this film I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it was. I've just finished watching it and found it to be not that bad.
Sure, it's no Alien or Shawshank Redemption, but it was never supposed to be and shouldn't be judged against legitimate masterpieces of filmmaking - it should be compared to the other Puppet Master films, and in that regard it really wasn't that bad, imo.
The acting was the worst thing for me, but it was no worse than any other PM film, they all have terrible acting. And I hear so many complaints about the puppets not featuring enough - I felt they featured quite a lot. I mean, they weren't killing left, right and centre like in part 3, but they were still actively in the film and doing things.
The story was basic, but at least it had one, unlike some of the other PM films. And Every puppet got their moment to shine, Ninja did not take over the screen, he killed just one person in the film, the other deaths were caused by the classic puppets. Speaking of the deaths, they were nice and bloody, which was satisfying.
Imo, part 3 is the best one, but I still like all the others (except Retro), and Axis of Evil was no worse than any other PM film, and it was better than some of them. People's expectations were too high for this film, which is why there was so much dissapointment.
