Does anyone know of any other documentaries similar to The Parking Lot Movie and Exit Through the Gift Shop? Just intellectual, upbeat and unique documentaries. Preferably about art or some other obscure interesting thing.

shareTry:
American Movie
King of Kong
Darkon
I would second "Darkon" - a movie in which you will think the people are total oddballs at the beginning, only to have them make you think that they are the real "winners" in life because they have an escape that the rest of the "normal" world doesn't have.

definitely King of Kong should be watched after this film. They are partners really, the two films.
Confessions of a Superhero
A gratifying choice would be:
Beautiful Losers (doesn't get into the existential social philosophy of The Parking Lot Movie, but I think you would find it fascinating in view of your question)
And, of course, though common and now old:
The Buena Vista Social Club
If you like oddball music documentaries:
Anvil: The Story of Anvil
The Devil and Daniel Johnston
You're Gonna Miss Me: The Roky Erickson Story
And as someone else mentioned, Fistful of Quarters: The King of Kong is highly entertaining.
American Movie
Registered Sex Offender
Dark Days
Jesus Camp
Monster Camp
not really what you're looking for but check out "Trailer Town", "period piece", and "streetwise" too. Also check out any of Erol Morris's films, the best documentaries of all time and many would fit your description.
Also, check out CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Just cuz.
