New Oil Reserves Found

I read about a month ago where they found an oil reserve in the Gulf of Mexico with an estimated 700 billion barrels."Exxon said what it had found contained the oil and gas equivalent of an estimated 700 million barrels." Now I do understand that this would not keep the US going for long at all, but who is to say that there are no more reserves like these all over the world. I do have a question. Do any of you think the US has satellites that are so sophisticated that they can predict or see oil on the earth some way?

So you just want to be dependent on other countries for oil?.i.e. if you live in the US.

That was just a minor find. going from your 700m barrels figure - which is probly exagerrated by the company that found it to boost their share price.

The world uses 80m barrels a day (25% by the u.s.) so thats less than 10 days supply.

The 'Peak' of oil dscovery was in 1965 , ever since then we found less and less each year.

about the satellite - no, i dont think so. could be wrong though
