I'm car-free, and even I think he is full of crap
You can see it really just in his expression, even before he says a word. I've known plenty of people like that guy, and they are overbearing blowhards.
As I say, I do not currently own a car, walk or bike everywhere, and I support a lot of "green" ideas like living in high density "New Urbanist" areas and trying to prevent urban sprawl. But that's because of more mundane reasons like reducing pollution, encouraging healthy lifestyles, preserving wild green space just for its own sake, and just the general ugliness and wastefulness of suburbia and freeways clogged with single drivers commuting in SUVs. I don't believe we're headed for some huge crisis--that's millennialist alarmism that has been around forever.
