I love the in Memorial salute I just hope they didn't forget anyone, I loved the clips they used for Patrick Swayze.

They forgot John Hughes.

Weird is the new normal.

WOW... that's a pretty big name to forget... are you sure he wasn't listed?

I thought he would be in the oscar one not emmys. What tv show was he attached to?

I just checked his IMDB page and he has quite a few writing credits for TV shows... he should have been included

..

That's a HUGE omission. Do they only cover TV people, or everyone? Because I don't recall Swayze doing TV work, and yet they included him.

WHOOPS - just checked and he did The Beast on A&E last year (which I watched but forgot, apparently!).

They also forgot Ted Kennedy. He's not a TV star obvy but he was a guest star on Chicago Hope so that should count for something.

that is true, they did forget john, but i do think they'll include him with the oscars.

I considered that but they did include Michael Jackson, who obviously was such a major superstar but is he relevant to the Emmys? John Hughes was a great, influential writer. But yes, they will definitely pay tribute to him at the Oscars.

The Jacksons had a tv variety show and cartoon. Not to mention his guest voice appearance on the Simpsons (the talking part not the singing).

I think they should have included Billy Mays. His death was so unexpected, and his face really is a representation of modern television. I still feel sad when I see his infomercials.
