How MCU needs to bring F4 back

Fantastic 4 need to be approached as period pieces. Heroes existed between Steve Rogers being in the ice and Tony Stark becoming Iron Man (Hank Pym existed as The Ant-Man). What if The F4 existed in the public eye from the 60's to the early 80's before they disappeared on an intergalactic mission that was covered up with help from Howard Stark, Peggy Carter and Hank Pym.

They are introduced into the current timeline in Avengers 5 which brings in Galactus.

No. This idea is unnecessarily complicated when the original origin could easily be updated with information and ideas about current space research and exploration.

Somebody could always create another android, call it the Human Torch.

IF and When Marvel gets the rights back, can't they just Insert the FF into the current timeline? Do they really need to of existed decades before? I have heard similar ideas and honestly I think it would be more simple to have them exist in the current timeline and have them go to space

Ask the guards, they'll deny it. Ask the inmates here—they'll cut their tongues out before they talk

My main reason is that the F4 if you go by there powers and code names they don't fit a current context.

Like Ant-Man if you open up the idea of the character having existed earlier decades when a code name like that would be easier to get away with it allows for the jokes and one-liners to come out.

The F4 were the original heroes of Marvel the first family why not go with the idea of them having been earlier heroes before Tony brought on the modern superhero.

Because you raise the question of why does the world seem surprised at Iron Man when they've already seen the Fantastic Four? Ant-Man worked in secret in the MCU, so the public didn't know he existed.

My main reason is that the F4 if you go by their powers and code names they don't fit a current context.

This makes no sense.

If the X-Men and Fantastic Four ever join the MCU, how will the writers explain where they were all this time?

They need to keep it faithful to the spirit of the original comic. Not make it dark or what ever

I think they should introduce them into the MCU like they did for Spiderman , we do not need to see their origin once again. I personally think they should give us the F4 the way we currently have them in the comics, meaning as a family with two kids (Franklin and Valeria) . The biggest mistake with the previous adaptation is that the F4 did not feel like a family at all and this is what is special with the F4, they are Marvel first family if you take away that from them, they are no longer the F4 (see this 2015 reboot as proof) . Also they should not introduce Victor Van doom in the first film, maybe they should mention him in the first film and concentrate to make the 1st film about the F4, maybe having the mole man as a bad guy...

Wouldn't be odd that Howard , Peggy and Hank never mentioned them?

reply

Yeah. But I think audience can understand it just fine. They can simply retcon them into existence and be done with it.

I mean, who would expect that a franchise 20-something movies long spanning a decade won't have any inconsistencies and retcons.

My idea for Fantastic Four was seeing an older team. George Clooney redeeming his superhero self for Batman & Robin as Reed Richards, and also for a little fanfare for those that wanted to see him as Mr Fantastic in the 05 movie. Naomi Watts as Sue Storm. Josh Duhamel as Johnny Storm. Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Ben Grimm.
Why an older team? Well...

Start the movie in 2007. They go space, get their powers, get stuck there somewhere far far away, or in another dimension, or another universe, wherever. They're there for years and years and years (till whenever the movie comes out, obviously). They're fighting, mastering their powers. Finally they find a way home. They talk about how the world isn't going to understand them. They're going to be huge celebrities, Johnny points out and can't wait for... Only to arrive home to a world full of superheroes, as they've missed it all.

I always wished we saw more Captain America man out of time stories, so this idea sort of developed from that. Not necessarily are we seeing them adjust to the time change so much as they need to adjust to a new world of superpowered beings, which they finally escaped from and where not expecting to be thrust back in to. Where maybe they aren't as special as they felt they were. And being they're older, that makes the fight they end up in so much more challenging as well.

First and foremost is to establish the FF as adventurers and scientist. They were never like the Avengers nor the Xmen but each of those adapted the core of the FF which was the family unit or the family dynamic.

Reed's incessant tinkering, problem solving and curiosity was a strength of the comic and a reason why it was so popular. The distinct roles of the team were perfect and evolved over time. The FF is not a difficult IP to bring to the big screen. In some ways it reminded me of Johhny Quest.
