Question....

I have not played this title but am a fan of the other games just sadly I only have a ps3.

So this is a reboot, and in the end we find that the whole game was an advent of Cheryl because she couldn't deal with the death of her father, Harry. My question is then, is Cheryl still the reborn version of Alessa in this game or is that also an advent of Cheryl's mind?

There is a thread here where someone suggested that SHSM is a Cheryl perspective several years after one of the "bad" endings of Silent Hill where Harry died. I actually like that idea, but I don't really believe there was any intended continuity between SHSM and the rest of the SH franchise. They just confirmed it at E3 when they announced SH 8. Which if you are numbering the "un-numbered" titles clearly leaves out SHSM. I don't really think that says anything bad about what was a very good game experience, there isn't any continuity in Final Fantasy either. Really I think Konami was just putting something together for the Wii, that would utilize (and perfect, it was so good) the "pointer as flashlight and cell phone" utility, and test out the "psyche evaluator" function. In the end though, Cheryl is just a troubled teen and if there's more to it, it would have to be in a SHSM 2 or some such.

Okay, 1) Next time, make sure you put SPOILERS in the title, because you have just ruined the ending for many people.

2) Harry's daughter Cheryl was never Alessa reborn, she basically was Alessa's soul. Heather, in Silent Hill 3, is a reincarnation of both Cheryl and Alessa. (Heather was the baby that Cheryl and Alessa gave to Harry at the end of Silent Hill 1, the original.)

So your answer is no, because Cheryl never was an reincarination of Alessa and because this game has nothing to do with Alessa.

Well, technically not many people, this is kind of a dead board. But the spoiler tag would have been nice I suppose. I still think it's just mostly an out-of-continuity story within the series. I've been waiting to see if Konami would utilize what they learned in developing SHSM in another survival/horror type game for the Wii. So far there have been no announcements on that front. And it's too bad, SHSM was very good.

You can also get it for PS2 and PSP. I'm not sure exactly how the backwards compatibility works for the PS3 but I'm pretty sure you could buy the PS2 version of the game and play it on your PS3.

As the title was designed for Wii I'm sure it's much more fun and compatible on that console but I myself played it on PSP (I downloaded it to my memory card from the PS network) and enjoyed it thoroughly.
