Gumball Machine (spoilers!)

Hi Everyone!

Really enjoying this game, but I have a question about the Gumball Machine puzzle. Ok, so I listened to the Voicemail and vaguely alludes to the girl's favourite colours and the "Coloured Bird".

No worries, the colours of the bird's beak are yellow, red, purple and black so I get those colours from the gumball machine and... nothing happens?!?

I tried a few different combinations and eventually was forced to look the answer up on Gamefaqs, but I don't get it. I know this shouldn't bug me, but why the heck is the answer "yellow, red, pink, and purple"?!?!

What am I missing? :)

TBH, I didn't get it either, and I just sort-of kept shaking the machine and turning the handle until I passed the puzzle, which only took about two or three minutes.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
