Can't Wait.

FIRST POST!!! I've been a fan since the first game back in '99. I am a little hesitant because it's a remake/reboot/whatever. But I am all for it. Atleast it won't be as bad as Silent Hill 4: The Room.

I personally don't like it because it never really took place in Silent Hill.

A baseless and trivial complaint.

Silent Hill: Shattered memories looks like *beep* so far. It's the first game in the franchise that I'm actually considering skipping. I've enjoyed all the games to an extent except Origins, but this is just ridiculous.

The icy Otherworld and the either 'sexy' or bulldyke Cybil along with the teenage prostitute Dahlia made me laugh out loud. Then I got pissed that was actually laughing at a franchise I once respected.

You complain The Room doesn't have enough Silent Hill in it. Sorry to break it to you, but this one has NO Silent Hill in it whatsoever -- just a weak and pale imitation of it.

I like SH4 the least for the same reason I like Fatal Frame 3 the least--the room!!! The constant returns to and chores in your apartment completely shatter the atmosphere of the games and negatively affect your immersion in the horror experience of the game.

I thought "The Room" concept worked well in how the apartment became worse and worse as you progressed. At first, I would agree it shattered the atmosphere of the game because you had a sanctuary to return to, but once it was morphed as well is when the game got really good.

silent hill 4 was good for me..different but good...but is this new one a game or a movieƉ....hopefully ps3 will carry it too if its a game...so far, Homecoming is the best of the series so far for me...

Homecoming was an improvement in some areas and a step back in others. On one hand, it borrowed too much from the film, as if they hoped to attract its non-gaming viewers and cash in on it. I much preferred the Otherworld transformations in Silent Hill 1-3.

I also didn't like ANY of the endings in Homecoming. Quite frankly, I don't care which one is canon because they all suck. I'd rather have had 2 great endings than 4 mediocre ones.

On the bright side, it was nice to have a Silent Hill game with good voice acting for once (the other games were all good in some spots and bad in others), and the camera was DEFINITELY much better than in any of the previous installments.

The game was a little bit combat-heavy, but it didn't bother me too much. One thing that did irk me, though, was the "American" feel of the game. The whole Wheeler segment in the prison felt more like The Suffering than Silent Hill.

speaking of wheeler, i am reminded of the scarlet doll..since thats as far as i have gotten, don't give nothing away, k?..but how do you beat that biotch?..i have broke her chest, stomach, arms, legs, a$$, and head, brought her down 20-30 times and still nothing!...is she invincible?..the walkthroughs are basically useless with her, imo..any advice?...thanks..

Oh. Scarlet is pretty easy once you know what to do with her. The way I remember it, you need to rip off her BACK piece when she is crippled as you would pry open a lock with a pipe or crowbar (you can use the knife too if I remember correctly -- but don't quote me on it).

You have a limited amount of time to do it until she gets back up. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It also helps if at least one of your weapons are upgraded (ceremonial dagger instead of combat knife, or crowbar instead of steel pipe, for example). My details on WHEN you get the upgrades are fuzzy though.

Once her back piece is destroyed, gut the *beep* out of her exposed "flesh"

When I got into the nightmare battle with Scarlet, there were NO prompts for a button pressing when she went down on her knees--I just had to run up to her and smash her until she stood back up.

As for the dodge button--it's a NIGHTMARE. What I ended up doing after repeatedly having to start over with her was, I ran up behind her and used the crowbar to whack her legs until she fell--it took a long time because ANYTIME she faced me, I'd run away and keep my distance so I wouldn't get hit. Once she finally went down, I switched to the axe and hit her with that until she stood back up--it took only about 3 times and she was done! Also, if I was afraid I was going to get hit by her arm because I was in the way, I would hit the dodge button WHILE pressing the back direction on the thumb stick so I would roll backwards and away from her as I was dodging. If I didn't do that, I'd always end up dodging right INTO the direction of her swinging arm. SO annoying.

Once, you beat her in the first form and she morphs--yes, you have to fight her AGAIN after you defeat her--what I did was just COMPLETELY stay away from her until she crawled up on the ceiling. When she does that, she eventually drops on the floor and is stunned. At that time, if you run up to her, you get a button prompt. press the button prompt and you'll get a cut scene of you jamming the crowbar into her. Repeat this only three times and she's done!

like i said; i have broken all her armor, brouyght her down numerous times, whacked the crap outta her and stood my grou nd with a good arsenal of shotgun blasts, crowbar and the axe, and this is on the PS3 of course...so i've managed to bring her to her knees the same as you but canno0t get her to go into the second fight so there is something i am missing for sure...not breaking som e part that needs broken or something...anyway, thanks for the advice though...laters..

Aw, I loved Silent Hill 4: The Room, despite it's flaws. I thought it easily lived up to the first three games. (And I loved Shattered Memories as well.)

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?
