the dollhouse

Why do people say it's a replica of the original Myers house? Clearly not. Has anyone actually looked? The siding of the real house is cream, the dollhouse is some blue-green color. The second level of the real house has two windows, the dollhouse has three. The top/attic of the real house has no windows, the dollhouse has two that extend out that one could stand in. The structure of the ground level is the only thing bearing any real resemblance.

I feel like it was a vague hint at best and the audience ended up seeing what they wanted to. Because if they were going for exact, the production team could have and should have done better. Plus, the only reason for it to be a replica is if Laurie wanted it that way. And if Laurie wanted it that way, I don't see her getting one that's just similar and being all "Eh close enough." She'd have it custom built. Or probably build it herself.

I think the burning dollhouse scene could be a nod to a similar scene in Terrence Malicks's first film 'Badlands', where Sissy Spacek and Martin Sheen's characters burn her father's house (which also contains a dollhouse... and a dead body) down, and begin their killing spree.
David Gordon Green has been on record citing fellow Texan filmmaker Malick as an important influence on his work, and Malick produced Green's 2004 film 'Undertow'.

Here's a link to the scene in 'Badlands': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH17YH5tI3Y
