Did Michael even care about Laurie (spoilers)

I was discussing this movie with a friend. He hadn't seen it yet so I didn't want to give too much away. But as I was talking about it I began to realize that I don't believe that Michael wanted to go after Laurie or have a showdown with her. I think he just wanted to kill people. The only reason there was the final confrontation is because the Doctor brought him to Laurie. Without that there was really now way that he would have tracked her down to her new house (guess he could have asked somebody "hey do you know where that Laurie Strode lady lives or went to the library to do a Google search). But, it didn't appear that he was taking active steps toward finding her. Of course, once he was at her house, why not try and kill her and everybody else.

"I think he just wanted to kill people."

I don't think so.. Killing people for no reason? He killed some people to find Laurie Storde. He killed own sister, but there is left one sister, Laurie Strode, so he wanted to kill another sister, that's it. He's a mentally sick.

And yes, he did care.

reply

Except that we have been over this time and time again and the movie even snarkingly reminds you that Laurie and Michael are not siblings in this movie

"He killed own sister, but there is left one sister, Laurie Strode, so he wanted to kill another sister, that's it."

Michael and Laurie are not brother/sister anymore.

reply

He cared more than Karen.

reply

That's... a really good point. Hadn't thought of it like that.

reply

Agreed, he only finds her because the events of the chaos form a direct path to her. Even his choosing to stalk Allyson seems at random.

reply

That doesn't line up with loris belief that he'd always come back for her though

reply

Loris belief?

reply

I'm guessing you haven't seen the movie yet

reply

I think there's a difference between saying he doesn't care and wasn't actively seeking her out.

reply

He tracked down those two reporters...

reply

He's just a random killer in this reboot. If he hadn't been brought to Laurie, the two never would have crossed paths.

"He's just a random killer in this reboot. If he hadn't been brought to Laurie, the two never would have crossed paths."

Exactly this, LordBAElish explained it perfectly and simply.

reply

This. He’s just a random killing machine. So to further your point, do you think he remembered / recognised Laurie from 40 years ago?

reply

Based on his reaction when she saw him thru the window for the first time, yes I believe he did. I think he just enjoys the act of killing and if was able would have probably wiped out the whole town.

Except for the babies and really small children of course. He seemed to just ignore them... Sad for the kid in the truck though :(
