shareIt wasn't cooler it just added logic to the story.They wanted to bring Curtis back for part 2 but they needed a reason why Michael would go out of his way to track down her specifically.Without the sister connection Laurie is irrelevant.No more important than Annie or Linda.It makes no sense why he would sit in prison for 40 years pining over 1 random girl who got away.

sharePart 2 was actually very good and 4 wasn't that bad.Other than that i tend to agree.I'm just saying i preferred the sister angle story wise.Without it his extreme obsession with Laurie makes less sense.

shareI wouldn't say he sat in prison for 40 years waiting to go after Laurie again. Only one waiting to do something when it came to Michael and Laurie was Laurie. It's ALL the characters' actions that led Laurie and Michael to face off at the end of Halloween 2018. Heck, Sartain pretty much drove Michael to Laurie's house. But the reporters/podcasters kind of triggered him to remember the events of the first movie. So maybe that's why he had some interest in going after Laurie again. His reason to return to Haddonfield was because it was his hometown. No one really drove him to Haddonfield, but it was his hometown so he made his way there. Then all the characters started pointing him in the direction of Laurie's house. And I'm pretty sure Michael has no interest in Laurie because once Michael leaves the house after Laurie tries shooting him and hits the mirror, Michael never turns around once he is out of the house and Laurie chases after him and manages to shoot him in the shoulder. He just takes a bullet and continues walking and is on to the next victim/kill. But everyone else kept doing stuff that led Michael to end up at Laurie's house. Mainly Sartain driving him there. So Michael pretty much moved on. Laurie was the one who didn't move on from the events from the first movie and set up her house to be some trap for him. And she lived in the middle of nowhere and a couple miles away from Haddonfield. Michael probably would've just stuck to Haddonfield and continued killing people. But no. Everyone had to do stuff which led to Michael ending up at Laurie's house and the two got another face off.
