Felt like something was missing

I liked it but something seemed missing.

Also,I thought Jamie from part 4 was Lauries daughter, she wasn't mentioned so was her only child meant to be Karen?

reply

Yes, this disregarded all sequels and was a sequel to only the original Halloween. Even part 2 was disregarded which ended in Michael Myers being burned alive. You notice they did away with the brother/sister relationship between Lori and Michael since that concept wasn't introduced until part 2.

reply

I know, they ignored the sequels when some of them were good, especially part 4.

reply

Yes. What was missing was quality, story, consistent characterizations, believable dialogue, atmosphere, and competent direction.

Other than that--perfect.

reply

I was disappointed with the way Laurie was portrayed,i thought they could have done more with the character.

reply

I agree. She was annoying, overbearing, a loser, and mostly wrong about everything.

The only character I sort of cared about was Will Patton's cop, and you know what happened to him.

I did look, BTW, at the cast for the first Halloween. They repeated enough that he was first on the scene I thought I'd find Patton in the cast list. But sadly, no. In fact his first credit was a year after Halloween was made. He'd have been 24 then.

Oh, I hoped they'd have found a good replacement for Loomis, or use old footage, a stand-in and CGI of Pleasance to give us an RIP cameo.

But... no.

I didn't care about any of the chicks... maybe the baby-sitter a little, but... you know. The two potential love-interests for Allyson fizzled. So, I figured this was another of the recent "Women good, men bad" movies.

Just one more disappointment with this one.

reply

Yes, plus a central character to care about.

In other words, good writing was missing.

Too bad. It had potential.

I did like some of the references to the first Halloween.

reply

They should've brought back Danielle Harris as Jamie Lloyd. She was much more likeable, sympathetic character compared to Laurie's new daughter, Karen. Karen should've gotten killed by Michael. Her daughter, Allyson, was nice.

reply

I didn't like the Karen character, Michael was more likeable.

reply

I'd even take Rob Zombie Laurie over Karen. That's how much I hated her. She had a better childhood than most kids in horror movies.

reply

Yes that's true,i thought Karen was miserable i just didn't like her.

reply

If you can't trust the star of the 2009 Land of the Lost movie to put together a faithful adaption of a Halloween movie then.....Oh Wait Nevermind

reply

The Myers house! Can't believe it didn't get a look in.

reply

I know!

reply

Yeah, this was fairly routine until the ending, where the movie finally got some steam going.

But, we all know Michael will live for the sequel. I personally LOVED "Halloween II" from 1982! I thought it was the perfect ending to the story, and they should have just left it there.

"It's time, Michael..." BOOM! ;-)

reply

I love Halloween 4,think because it was the first one i watched.

There was nothing really wrong with this movie, it was an okay sequel. Not the best, but I've seen much worse (Zombie's H2 and Halloween: Resurrection). I was hyped about the trailer and all the promise of the movie, I just didn't feel like the movie lived up the hype. I was a little disappointed.
