Did anyone else find that line kinda dumb when she said it to the doctor? It felt like a fan of the franchise talking to him "Hey i get it you're the new Loomis" just seemed kinda dumb for her character to say that.
shareYes, I thought the dialogue was possibly the weakest element on the whole. A vast amount of it was as if the bullet points of the narrative, character traits and exposition from a rough treatment were placed in quotes and assigned directly to the characters in the script, and that they're attempting to get a pass on it as being willfully "cheeky" or something. MOST of the dialogue was exposition dump and super on the nose. Textbook telling-not-showing. It came off pretty lazy and corny to me.
A few other examples like that that hit me pretty hard were (SPOILERS):
• All the "my childhood" stuff, "my childhood is down there", etc.
• Daughter telling Laurie at dinner "this is why we don't reach out"
• Doctor saying "so this is what it feels like"
• The ~bazinga~ moments like "gotcha" before shooting MM, "goodbye michael" before igniting the basement, etc.
Agreed...dialogue was cringey and weak.

Before, Michael had a therapist that came down to Haddonfield to help get him and now here was another, similar dude down there when Michael was on the loose. Kind of a xerox copy....so seems like the kind of sarcastic thing she might say.
It just sounds like something you'd hear in a parody, and it felt like it was put in there to drive the point home that thats who he's supposed to be if the retarded audience doesn't get it "hey guys this guy here is supposed to be the new Loomis".
shareHackneyed writing, one of the films many faults. Throw in a reference to a past character no matter how jarring and out of place, there that'll make them happy. What would've worked better is a TV playing in the background showing a Donald Pleasance movie (A Carpenter film maybe, Prince of Darkness) as a throwback to the first Halloween film when the kids are watching 'The Thing From Another World'.
