Can't believe the praise for that horrid trailer...

Almost every shot we see is rehashed from scenes in other Halloween films, including Zombie's terrible remakes (i.e., the mental hospital scene, the toilet scene). And the whole, "he's not her brother, that's just some stuff people made up," line pisses me off. Halloween 2 is one of the greatest sequels of all time, and together with Halloween, make up the two greatest slasher films in the history of the genre.

Not to mention, how was Michael apprehended? Retcon much?

I know that trailers can oftentimes be misleading. Rogue One, for instance, turned out to be very different than what the trailers led us to believe. But this just looks like another needless reboot disguised as a sequel, much like The Thing was a reboot disguised as a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing.

It's too bad people will go see this crap, just like all of the other horrible reboots. There's a ton of material just waiting to be adapted out there in every genre, but most of it will never see the light of day, precisely because of nonsense like this.

I understand your complaints. Unfortunately, the masses have no imagination left. The industry has no desire to take any risks. The age of great, daring cinema is over.

I like all the Halloween movies....

and I'm not hard to please....But I wasnt a fan of the trailer either...

The one thing that really jumped out at me was, It truly did look like they were rehashing many scenes from other Halloween movies....The bathroom scene looks like a complete steal from H20...

and Curtis's character made Zero sense....lol they are making her out to be some character whos been preparing 40 years for Micheal to escape so she can "Kill Him"....Yet....shes known where he is everyday for 40 years, why not just kill him at the jail....we certainly know by the opening sequence he cant he very hard to see him/visit since the camera crew clearly not only are visitiing him but also easily SNUCK A Michael Myers Mask threw security, certainly if its that easily to get to Michael, She could have setup a visit and SNUCK a Knife or gun in with her....
,

also, about a month ago...they screened this, a reports came out that People Hated the ending(which apparently is being fixed with reshoots) but another thing that was reported is exactly what you said.....Apparently there are a TON of scenes in the film that are exactly Rehashes from Previous Halloween movies, so many that one person who went to the early screening said it almost like your watching A new Halloween film, A New Story, But Every single Death scenes is copied from a previous Halloween film...

I dont know what to think at this point, I have great faith in "Blumhouse"....but I didnt like the trailer....Also I quite liked BOTH H20 and Resurrection....Not sure I'm going to like them basically being VOIDED now...

actually you know what I take that back....This new Halloween film VOIDS every Halloween sequel after Halloween 2....and there was some good ones...4 and 5 were very good...

So you know what, I'm just gonna consider this new Halloween kinda of a "One Off" or A "What If".....I'm not gonna completely act like the other Halloween dont exist, I'm just gonna go into this one thinking

This is just a "what If" type film.....

from me, the Halloween continuity will remain the same with the previous Halloween films and this New Halloween film will just be basically yet another reboot/What If Film...

I imagine what they are gonna do is have this film set up possible sequels with a Younger cast, Curtis will be the focus of this up, but however the film ends it will end with a setup for a sequel with new characters, younger characters...

so it really is just a REBOOT...

they are doing the exact same thing with the Terminator franchise right now...

I hope I like this film....but I think Its going to have too many things that bother me

I know right? That was a lame trailer. It's gonna be Texas Chainsaw 3D all over again!

reply

Yeah I thought that 2 but ya know they'll do it much better.

reply

So it'll stink instead of suck?

reply

Let's hope not. I think when he falls Loomis will go investigate n Michael will pop up n stab him n the 900 times n the stomach. N homeboy gets arrested n it's off 2 the funny farm n then bam. Cut 2 40 years later.

Pretty hilarious how people are already saying the movie is crap based on a 2 minute long trailer.

That’s just the way it is these days. The movie could get great reviews and be hailed as the best Halloween since the original, and you’ll still see posts like “I can’t believe this crap is getting all this praise”. It’s going to have its haters no matter what.

I myself liked the trailer. It wasn’t necessarily earth-shattering but I am seriously loving the direction it’s headed in. Texas Chainsaw 3D? Judging by the creative team behind this Halloween film, I highly doubt that.

Laurie isnt Michaels sister. And Clark Kent isnt Superman. Dont know how people doesnt react hyped about such smart changes, which just destroys the original movies they tell they are based on.

It doesn't look good, and I'm not talking about the scenes themselves. The look is all off, the problem with horror movies now is with how immaculate they look. Alarm bells started to ring the moment "Blumhouse Productions" appeared on-screen, they've never made a decent movie to date, and yes I've seen 'Get Out'.

Kinda just happy that Michael Myers will be back on the big screen. It's been too long.

Being a fan of the series, and since Rob Zombie's entries didn't really work for me, I'm just go in to the theater with no expectations and enjoy it. At least they got the mask right.

Yeah I agree, there's nothing that really jumps out at me in the trailer. But to be honest, I don't want much to be given away so I can't judge it on that. I remember watching the first IT trailer and just thinking "meh", but that movie also turned out to be a train wreck, lol.
