Has anyone seen this? I've heard some really great things about it. I know it's playing at the Newport Beach Film Festival on the 25th of April. I think I'll try to go see it, but I wanted to know if anyone else knows about it.

shareJust saw it at Copenhagen Film Festival Cph:Pix, and I have to say it is a great film. Very personal and touching whilst maintaining humor.

On Sunday, April 25, 2010 the Newport Beach Film Festival will present its 11th annual Latino Showcase, an evening celebration of Latino cinema and culture. The event will feature premiere screenings of Latino films, followed by a festive post-screening gala. With the countries of Mexico, Chile and Brazil represented, the Latino Showcase will give filmgoers an opportunity to experience Latino film and culture at its finest.
Check out this amazing film Alamar (To The Sea), a beautiful story told on the sea, a young boy, Natan, goes on a journey that he will never forget. Before Natan returns with his mother to her native Italy, he accompanies his father, a humble fisherman in Mexico, on a voyage of self-discovery as his father attempts to instill in him a sense of his Mayan origins. Alamar is playing at 7:30pm on Sunday, April 25th at Edward Island Cinemas located at 999 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, Ca 92660.

The post-screening celebration will take place at Kimera Restaurant Lounge, located at 19530 Jamboree Road, Irvine. Kimera offers a unique fusion of cuisines highlighted by a contemporary and modern setting. Admissions to one of the Latino Showcase films and the post event is $35.00.
