Someone explain the ending (spoilers)
From what I can grasp, Dylan, His parents, and Natalie are the people Charlie killed in the car accident, and she had to make amends for what she did. Is this correct?

shareCharlie killed herself and Dylans parents i the crash, so she was stuck in purgatory to make amends.
Dylan knew that if he had picked up his parents at the airport instead of beeing with Natalie, they would still be alive.
That made him blame Natalie and that`s what caused there break up.
So Charlie had to make them love each other again, to make amends for killing Dylans parents which caused him to break up with is girlfriend.
That's I understood perfectly. But I didn't understand how the thugs kept beating Charlie if she was actually a ghost.
shareBecause she was in denial of her own death.
In the cafe scene she talked about how the dead could still be seen as living, if they denied beeing dead.
I know... it sounds stupid :)
That makes more sense. Thanks.
shareHaha. It IS stupid! She's been walking around, using drugs, etc for TEN YEARS!? Come ON. She was hooked up to the monitors in the hospital, so they registered her vital signs based on her DENIAL? Even when she was 'asleep'? What?! Also, it was never explained why Dylan followed her home from he cemetery in the first place. You tend to gloss over a lot during the movie; it's when you make the mistake of actually thinking about it afterward that things fall apart.
shareSo obviously the detective was a living dead too, I assume?
But why did the bullets pass through him?
And why all the strange paranormal activity behind him throughout the whole movie?
Stupid
I myself think that they were in some kind of purgatory including Dylan, Charlie and even Natalie. They never showed who was in the other car that night. It could have been Dylan and Natalie. The weird part is a taxi always following Dylan plus that detective, the rain, etc. I could go on and on.
In my opinion to explain the strange paranormal events we're watching is not actual reality but a form of purgatory they are all in shown mostly from Dylan and Charlie's view.
This movie had so many plot holes, it wasn't funny.
shareI just watched it and came here hoping find out what I missed. I'm glad to see others having trouble understanding it.
I'd watch it again to try and make sense of it but the filming style was awful "film-noir" half black & White and too dark to see. The jumping back and forth to I-Still-Don't-know-where was dreadful. I'm ashamed I sat through the whole thing waiting for it to be explained in the end only to be let down by more crap that makes no sense.
