Our Economy Is Bad + We're Paying Millions For This?

Seriously, how could any studio in their right mind say; "Let's do it ... and burn our country to the ground!"

I just became aware of this movie, and my immediate thought was the same. Millions spent on execrable dross like this, while regular Americans (and Australians, like me) struggle to pay the mortgage/rent and put food on the table. What is up with our species?

1) I doubt this movie cost millions of dollars (did you see the trailer?)

2) Movies cost a lot because they have to employ lots of people to make them (not just actors and producers, lots of lower level people make their living working in the film industry) who then in turn take that money and put it right back into the economy.

While this movie does look ridiculously horrible, like frylock said - lots of people probably got a job out of this movie...camera man, make-up people, costume designers, set designers...

Second, quick internet search shows this movie probably cost somewhere in the 1.3 million dollar range - not exactly "millions" of dollars that have gone to waste...though i'm sure someone out there could have pumped out a better movie for half that much...

What do you mean "we're paying millions for this"? "We" are not. The movie studio is, and they're free to do whatever they want with their money.

reply

I'm totally with you. It's a waste of money, but it's business. Here's the thing. Believe it or not, but this type of movie does well. The price tag on this is cheap, and makes a good amount of profit OVERSEAS. Before you attack me, it's true.

A recent story that was exposed was the pitch for the sequel for "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." It's obvious that this movie is better than the 41 Year Old..., but Anchorman is mostly successful in America and UK. Everywhere else, it fails. The original cast and crew were ready, but Paramount saw it as a waste of money. Even with the stars volunteering to get pay cuts to lower production cost, Paramount says no.

Apparently some other awful movie like "Meet the Spartans" will be getting a sequel.

Post office sucks! 1 month to deliver a package that would've taken 47 minutes to deliver.

How does spending money ruin our economy? lol

Spending helps the economy grow retards.

reply

Spending money to go to movie theaters, to buy the movie, and the production of the movie is pro-growth so how is that bad for the economy? It was nowhere near millions to make and it's their own fault if they lose money over it but keep in mind these awful parody movies actually do get seen by people

reply

If you can't afford to see a movie, don't come here and cry about it, go get a job.

Better yet go take an economics class and realize how ridiculous you sound, maybe you'll stop voting Republican with a proper education.

What's the point of saying that the poster must be Republican?

You are what people think about when they use the word troll on these boards. That's what you are. You are coming in with hateful speech towards a person you don't even know, insulting their intelligence, affiliations and anything else you can think of to stir the pot.

And all Republicans are dumb redneck gun toting inbreds right? How would you even know what political affiliation they even consider theirs.

Okay let me do some guessing then...It's obvious you are a low information liberal who doesn't dig deeper than the same slanted television news programs and websites/newspapers. You can try to tell me different but coming on the imdb message boards to start *beep* gives you the maturity level of an eight year old. I'm just so sick and tired of people like you. Keep your condescending and holier than thou attitude away from all of us who do not give a flying *beep* skillrex or whatever the hell your name is.
You have no idea who or what that person is. Chances are that they are probably happier and, since you alluded to it, actually smarter than you. I'm sure you are a self-proclaimed genius in your own mind. However, it seems pretty certain that the whole "I'm smarter than everyone" thing is a cover for your inabilities as well as your fractured ego. That's why you have to go after other people.

Grow the *beep* up, I believe, is the point.

reply

I do not believe that millions were put into this. It's amazing that idiots can read these scripts and say "Yes, I'll put my dollars into this." But this is straight to DVD trash. No one spent too much...I hope
