Brick

This movie is a really boring, less successful version of Rian Johnson's Brick. Seriously. If you want a great modern look at Noir, then go for Brick.

Actually the basic idea isn't too too different. A guy realizes his ex-girlfriend is in some *beep* and he goes on a mystery adventure to help her.

Except in the case of this film, the protagonist is a whiney little punk, who feels almost useless. Where as in Brick, Joseph Gordon Levitt is a total bada$$.
