Not sure if anyone else has noticed(spolier)

That during the scene where Nicole Kidmans character is sluttin it up to the guy in jail with the whole no touching thing, Matthew Mcconaugheys character starts to get a woody. But it is then revealed later on that his part was secretly was gay?

Was this to show that Nicoles part in the film was supposed to be so hot that he could even make a gay man get a hard on? or was it just a weird plot hole in the film they didnt fix? because i couldnt imagine Matthews character thinking the skeevy hick in jail was hot.

Well he was, looking at John Cusack's character so that might explain it.

"You were supposed to love me, werent you?", Nicole Kidman-Stoker 2013

It was also kinda "nasty" so that is probably what turned him on. As Kidman's character noted later, Ward had a dark side...and she wasn't referring to his sexual preference.

Matthew's character got turned on by the mess Cusack left in his pants. It had nothing to do with Kidman performing, just like her performance didn't impress anyone else in the room except Cusack.

There is a very subtle, but telling visual exchange between Cusak & McConaughey just after Cusak tells Kidman to open her mouth. McConaughey looks down (seemingly at Cusak's crotch), and Cusak looks over at McConaughey catching him doing it. McConaughey quickly looks away as he's been "caught."

That exchange made it clear to me that McConaughey's arousal had more to do with Cusak than Kidman.

He gets a hard-on after noticing that Cusack has jizzed in his pants.
Obviously you'd initially assume he was turned on by Nicole but when its revealed hes gay it makes you go 'but wasn't he.... oooooooh ok then'

Surely by the end of the film you understood that Ward was fixated on "rough", dangerous sexual situations, right? At the point in the movie you're citing, we have already learned (via the kitchen conversation scene between Ward and Anita/Macy Gray) that he's had one significant "run-in" with danger (in that way), so it's not all that much of a stretch that he would get a "woody" witnessing the edgy and outrageously raunchy jail house scene between Charlotte and Hilary. I'm not sure the "take away" from that is that Ward found Hilary "hot", but rather that Ward had a propensity for the kinkier side of life.

reply

Ya, Hillary knew that WARD was gay and into masochistic tendencies because of the jailhouse scene where he was aroused and staring at Hillary's jizz explosion, because later in the film when Jack is looking for Charlotte Hillary tells Jack "get outta here" and tell's WARD, "I got what you're looking for right here!" And before he slices WARD's neck you can look down at McConaughey's arms and see that he is clutching at Hillary to hold him and slice his neck, then Hillary tell's WARD, "is this what you want?" (slices his neck) and then shouts "ya!" to answer his own question.
