Masochistic Matthew scene

Really? Someone who likes sex SO rough that it leaves him with massive facial scarring and blind in one eye? He would never have made it into his late twenties!

reply

To me it wasn't exactly clear what happened...

reply

I think it went much further than Ward intended it to go.

reply

Yes, but he all ready had deep facial scars which I think we're supposed to assume were from prior sexual activity.

reply

lol no it was quite clear that it got taken far further than Ward intended.

Spoiler:

This movie is not entirely clear. From the bits that I have gathered...later...that Ward was gay, though throughout the entire movie, there were no signs of him being such, and with their chopped up at time southern jab dialogue, couldn't make out much of what they were saying. Anyway, getting back to Ward and that beat up scene...the last you see of him walking towards some black characters at a table, whispering something to them and then walks away. The next scene he is seen tied up, butt up, and bleeding. Now, did his brother knew he was gay, or did it even come by him at the end? He may have said something to him when he kissed him and said "your my brother". That is the problem when actors try to speak a certain slang or accent and one cannot make out what they are saying. I tried to get title caption on the DVD, but there was only Spanish subtitles. Speaking of the end, how did he get the boat to cart off their bodies, when Cossack was still around?

Macy Gray via narration said in the hospital scene that "(Zac Efron) wasn't upset that his brother was a homosexual, but he was upset that he hadn't told him" not an exact quote.

So he didn't know until after, he got his suspicions after he'd strangled one of the guys and he wondered why the floor was covered in plastic (in advance in order to not bloody up the motel room from the violent sex that they had planned) and asked so to (Mathew McConaghey).

It was a weirdly put together scene. I thought they were gay-bashers and tortured him for being gay, but looking back that was not the case but indeed a rough sex thing that got way out of hand.
