Butt posse???????

Jasper must like Henry a whole lot to make him his Butt Posse. It would be easy to read more into that...........

Whatever writer thought that phrase was acceptable needs to be fired ASAP. No teenage boy or any other heterosexual male for that matter would use that phrase.

He should have called him his buddy or "bro" or "cuz" (short for cousin).

reply

Dude, your right. I'm gay and would have never thought to call any friend my butt posse. It sounds like butt pirate which is really offensive to all gay guys everywhere.

reply

Hopefully they never ever use that phrase again. Otherwise the dialogue was good.

reply

I know, I was like no teens use that phrase. It was just wierd.

reply

Fired? FIRED? Geez, going a bit overboard, aren't we? I mean, consider the source (within the story) of the phrase. Jasper may be pretty bright, but he's pretty much a dork. He was trying to be clever but realized, after saying it (and then trying to explain it), it was just wrong. I thought it fit the character perfectly. After trying to show how out of touch Henry is, he just showed he's not really much better.

reply

Yea i thought it was really weird and never even heard that phrase before but thought maybe it's jstu Herny being out of touch. What got me was teh constant talking in texts. Especially this last episode. Do kids in high school actually talk that way now. I never hear anyone using the acronyms outloud.

reply

I'm pretty sure Jasper knew that was wrong after he said it because he tried to cover it up but failed

reply

I disagree. It's in the Urban Dictionary.

reply

Say that in any of the urban areas I've been to and you get a lot of weird looks and possibly the crap beat out of you.

Shawn: "I solve a case every week and usually one around Christmas"

reply

I'd say that and I guarantee NOBODY would be the crap out of me.

reply

i probably missed this scene... when did jasper say this? and what was the actual dialogue?

reply

It was the first episode, Jasper had been attacked by men with guns who shot up his car. Boy Wonder Harry saved his ass. About 1 minute later Jasper said to him wow, I'm going to make you a member of my butt posse. Henry replied what are you talking about? Jasper said You saved my butt. Someone in the thread thought it was on purpose, to show what a dork he is and he was trying to be cool. That makes sense, but it was pretty lame, I certainly wouldn't say it in a locker room.

WAs wondering about that. dind't know if kids talked text in junior high ro high school some places but would think they would get weird looks, especially withas often as they do it on the show.

reply

Some people do. It's annoying if they do it a lot but it's not uncommon. The same way people have been saying FYI for years, I know people who will say BRB or BTW. I even catch myself doing it sometimes

You have a point, Serendipitous-Kenshin, but I think that whole "F2F" line (and other "teenager" colloquialisms) are just ways for the writers to show how foreign Henry is to his American peers. I also suspect the writers are being ironic with their cringeworthy lines. As lame as some of the dialogue is, there are a lot of snippy lines way above "kids' TV show" caliber, too.

Actually it was at the beginning of the first episode. They are both on the football field for gym and one of the guys throws a football at Jasper. Henry grabs a javelin and throws it at the football. He hits the football before it can hit Jasper. Jasper then thanks him and says he can be a member of his Butt Posse. Henry looks puzzled and Jasper explains himself.
