What makes Earth Prime so important?

How does destroying Earth Prime destroy all of reality? I know that all the heroes conveniently reside on earth, but that shouldn't mean that Earth is like the center of reality or whatever.
There are other planets in the DC universe that are as important or more important than Earth. What about Krypton? Krypton has existed at least 1000 years before Earth has? Surely there are Kryptons that haven't been destroyed?
What about the World Headquarters of the Green Lanterns, Oa? Shouldn't the Prime World of that be important?
If anything, destroying Earth Prime means that the other Earths would get destroyed too, but not all of reality.
In the end, it's an interesting concept, and the movie was enjoyable, but it's been bugging me recently.

It means that by destroying Earth Prime, it would destroy THEIR reality. All other planets would be relatively fine, since they are not in proximity to Earth. By blowing up Earth Prime, Owlman would kill only the inhabitants of Earth through multiple dimensions, but Mars, Krypton, and all those other planets would stay the same.

That makes sense, but the way I heard it was that ALL reality would get destroyed.
I watched the movie for the first time a couple of days ago, so I might have to watch it again to make sure.

Well, look at it this way. Earth Prime is the center of the multiverse. All other universes are stacked on top of it. So, when prime goes it will cause a chain reaction that will end reality.
