Underwhelmed (after series finale)

I love this series from start to finish and was really excited for series 4 taking place at the wedding. There was too much focus on Paul and Laura for my liking though. Obviously being the wedding I knew that was to be expected but Steve and Becky had very little interaction this entire series in comparison. I feel like it deserved one more episode, back at the apartment, with Becky and Steve at the forefront- the whole basis of series 1 - 3. Another thing that bugged me was how none of the antagonists of the show had much of a comeuppance. It would have been nice to have the series end with Paul NOT choosing to be in a miserable lie of a marriage OR Laura actually getting what is rightly deserved, or at least a good telling off for being such a pathetic and horrible bitch OR Shelley and Dan ending up together... at least a hint of that.

Great series overall but the ending I felt very underwhelmed with how they finished it. I don't expect most shows to have a packaged ending with a pretty bow and no loose ends but it really lacked a series finale feel. How did everyone else feel about the ending?

Oh blimey, I hadn't realised that that was the last episode as British comedy shows typically comprise of six....

Well if that's it then you're right, what an anti-climax.

....and to think that a monster like Laura didn't get her long overdue comeuppance on screen - arguably the 'money shot' for the entire series, is really disappointing and such a letdown!

But she did get her comeuppance because she has to live with what she did with Paul's half brother just to get back at Paul. It was very subtle but I think it worked. They are doomed to live in an unhappy marriage from now on after what they both did to each other.
Lee knows he will never get back with Becky now and that Steve and Becky will always be connected with the baby. Becky's father was humiliated in front of everyone. All in all I think it ended very much in line with the tone of the series. However I was sorry Dan didn't have a bigger role in that series.

I thought that, for the most part, series 4 consisted of some of the best stuff that this show has ever put out. It was like a comedy retelling of Festen. Wonderful.

However, it felt very abrupt and as if there was a missing final chapter. There were a lot of loose threads left without conclusion. That let it down, overall, sadly.
