Unbearable to watch
I couldn't watch more than three minutes of that whining "show". This to me is an antithesis of a comedy.

I gave it 10 to 15 minutes and decided it was irredeemable. There's not an ounce of humour or wit and the cast is both unconvincing and unappealing.
Whoever wrote this dross should stick to scrawling graffiti on toilet walls and the person at the BBC who commissioned it should seriously have his or her credentials (and head) checked.
'Unbearable to watch' is actually a most fitting label for this puerile attempt at comedy.
Seriously. The pilot was one of the worst things I've seen. Nothing but pointless blather, a 'quirky' neighbor, and a drawn-out poo joke.
I agree, it's totally dire. To my credit I managed three episodes before I (virtually) trashed it.
I am with you. The forced sexual smugness is remarkably unpalatable. Especially knowing that Tovey prefers boys.
The neighbor and sister are equally dreadful.
If they took Spaced and stripped it of humour, chemistry, and joy, it would be this schlocky, self-absorbed pap.

Agreed.
'nuf said.
Was CRAP, is CRAP, still CRAP.
I am not a fan of this show,it started off as good in the first episode but rapidly began to decline. I just could get into into it. Someone I know suggested I watch it, and that it would be worth my time. But I didn't find it funny at all.
where there is hope , there is a light that always shines
'Comedies' where people just sit around and talk without rib-tickling actions are very au courant in Britain since the success of The Royle Family - Grandma's House,Roger and Val Have Just Got In and Friday Night Dinner being similar ,though less potty-mouthed,examples - so,like it or not,you are looking at the new face of British comedy. Which to my mind is preferable to dire 'old style' sitcoms like In With The Flynns and Life Of Riley. So ..each to his/her own,. And the notion that a gay actor playing a straight lover is incongruous really does not hold water. Who,after all, were two of the biggest 'ladies men' heart throbs of the 1950s ? Rock Hudson and Dirk Bogarde.
shareThere's a lot of understated humour in this show, maybe you and others on this thread just didn't get it?! I like it. I've seen every episode, I think it's very funny and very well observed.
shareI like it too. It's very tiresome when people construe "It doesn't make me laugh" to mean "It's not funny". It plainly is funny for some people.
The comment about Tovey's sexuality is absurdly out of place.
Don't get arrested - even Seth knew that and he used to point at planes.

The people that do not find this program funny simply do not get the point of it. It is effectively a big brother look at how normal people in normal relationships act and behave in their own company, behind closed doors. And it is *beep* brilliant. They do not __try__ and be funny, they are just being themselves. My girlfriend and I relate to at least 3 topics in every episode. I guess if you can't then it is just isn't for you and should stick to watching Downtown Abbey.
shareI think Downtown Abbey was a movie about a hooker from Philadelphia.
