The First Date

A really beautiful piece of TV. Nestled in the middle of S3 when we've become introduced to the characters and their slobbish and quirky ways, we're now taken back to their first date.

The freshness and awkwardness of a new relationship. The looks they give as they fall for each other. The fact that they've made so much effort for each other, that effort that rarely happens after the dawn of a relationship. But the difference here is that this is them: a fairly working class set of urbanites, perhaps a group lower down the social scale. And the grittiness of their situation only makes this episode more poignant.

Lovely episode, beautiful acting, but needs to be seen in order - don't watch if before watching S1 and S2...
