I don't get the haters

Seriously? Worst movie ever made? Grow up. There's plenty of other bad movies out there and this one wouldn't even be close to being in that category. Apparently some people didn't get the message in this movie at all. I was so glad that even a jock in the movie who made his life hell actually turned around and realized they really wern't so different. That usually doesn't happen in real life. He realized even his seemingly fine best friends had problems of their own. It showed not only his pain but also that just because people appear normal doesn't mean their lives are by any means. I loved this movie for many reasons. I can relate to the characters and I thought it was very realistic. Not all high schools openly pick on obese kids but many do and the bullying is definitely realistic.

The haters are just some messed up people. I don't want to diagnose them, but it is what it is, they have issues they should deal with them.

There was a lot to pick on in this film. But, the overall message couldn't have been more solid. If I was to rate the film on message it would rate a 10. Overall I think a 6 is fair. I have read this was based on a true story so, that does explain one of the problems I had with the movie, it was sort of all over the place. But, that is real life people have a lot of different problems and they have friends with problems. But, really this movie could have easily been three, Paul and Sable could have each had a movie based on what they went through, especially Paul with an alcoholic father, mother, and uncle. So, anyway there was all that in the background about tragedies that are all around us and Jimmy seemed to finally get it and became even more empathetic than he already was. So, in that way it was a great movie. Maybe they can do a sequel I would like to know how Paul ended up.

"inspired by" is a lot different from "based on" a true story

It was inspired by an 8 year old's story. So basically everything in the film is probably made up except for the idea of a fat kid getting bullied and taking control and losing weight.

They just threw too much into it. It's like a catch-all of teen problems. I'm honestly surprised that they didn't make his sister anorexic. It was just a very predictable movie with very little uniqueness. I thought his best friend would either move in with his family or die somehow, but they didn't go that far. And they didn't make the science teacher the guy who was killing people. Those were the three surprises for me.

Also, they never went into the girl's problems. They made a big scene about her being emotionally scarred and they never resolved it. She just walks into the church at the end and she's magically better. Did she go to therapy or something? Was her therapist the murderer? It feels like an incomplete story. For a movie that's only and hour and 15 minutes long, I think they could have done something more on her end.

Another thing is the other fat kid that sat with him at lunch. What was the point of that character? Was he just there because it might be awkward if it was only the fat kid and the girl sitting at the lunch table? They never explored anything about the kid. I don't even remember his name. I think they only mentioned it once. He was apparently the fat kid's friend, but the only time we see them hanging out is at the parade and on the bus to school.

I don't get it either. I thought the movie was pretty well made.
