Couldn't agree more. I haven't read Cornwell's books, but can't believe she'd make the female lead such a pr!ck. And a one-note portrayal didn't help.

Sunjata was the whole show, and carried it well. Couldn't they have found ANY justification for lovemaking/sex scenes for him, preferably with a minimum of clothing? Or none at all?! One extraordinarily sexy guy.

This was one of the worst movies I have seen in a while... bad even by lifetime standards.

I really like Andie McDowall but this role didn't fit her. I read the books and the character really is a total self absorbed prick. But she was also a blonde rich bimbo in her 20's who wears tight short skirts and blouses. Andie McDowall is 52 years old with dark hair and looks good but she is not 25 years old.

I'm surprised by this thread. I just read the book and watched the movie back-to-back and found the movie to be far superior. Cornwell's writing is terrible, and Win comes across like a shallow bully in the book. In the film, he seems much nicer and his motivations (keeping his Nan safe) were much more pure. The plot was streamlined too, which was nice (the subplots in the book were somewhat more realistic, but way too scatterbrained for such a short, compact story). Lots of nice little touches in the film too, like the opening scene that takes full advantage of a fascinating setting that P.C. just sort of glosses over in the novel.

I will never read another Cornwell book again, but I'd kill a lazy Saturday with a film sequel with the same cast & writers/director.
