Most of them were seniors and I thought they all looked great. Some of them were only 19 and easily passed for 17. Their age didn't bother me and I really liked this mini series.
shareMany shows and movies have actors that are older playing high school students. In Footloose most of the main characters were way past high school age, Ithink only one or two were still in their teens. In fact the actoress who played Lori Singers mom is only 9 years older then her. They all looked fine to me.
shareCasting people over 18 is easier for them because they don't have to worry about getting tutors or accommodating them school wise. They don't have to worry about parents and they can make them work more and longer hours.

Dreama Walker could pass for a high schooler but Rachel Melvin looked almost 30.
shareI know Luke Perry was 24 and Gabrielle Carteris was 29 when BH 90210 premiered, and they were supposed to be sophomores in HS. So yes, that's not uncommon. Most people just manage to look past it.
shareHarper and Kaia are like 26-27 years old. The actress that played Harper was on Don't Trust the B in apt 23 and That one that played Kaia was a high school student on Days of our lives like 8 years ago.
