I believe some of this show is real

When it comes to people bringing in stuff, having experts show up, making deals etc, I do believe is real. People who have brought stuff on the show before says that it is real and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't or shouldn't be. However, the little stories in between the buying and selling (Rick trying to trick his dad into drinking decaf, bets they make with each other, etc.) are scripted. Take for instance the episode where Corey and Chumlee try to follow that older car and broke down beside the rode. Instead of using a phone from the camera crew to call for assistance, they instead get out and supposedly start walking in the hot sun until they get to a shooting range (of all things since that's where they're known for going to the most on the show), and they stick around until help arrives. So yeah, the people bringing in stuff I believe is real, the stories in between are not.

I'll give you a good example why its fake. Rick Dale's (from American Restoration) brother Ron (who appears regularly on American Restoration) brought an old and beat up Coca-Cola machine and sold it to Rick. Rick took it to Rick Dale's, got it restored and later on probably sold it in his store.

So why would Ron sell a Coca-Cola machine to Rick? It makes no sense.

That there are four fat slobs is all too real.

The objects that are brought in are done through open casting calls and scheduled ahead of time, there is nothing spontanious about that.

I totally agree with you. The buying and selling stuff it real. Many of the other stuff is clearly scripted.

We haven't had cable for awhile and I've missed the show. We just got Sling TV so we can now watch it. We saw one we've never seen before the other night. It included a "field trip" with little kids visiting the store. Ok, that is real enough. But not them playing hide and seek in the storage room. No store would allow little kids to hide behind expensive things. Let alone the risk to their safety. A teacher in charge of the kids wouldn't allow it either. Then the kids being put to "work".

If find fillers like that annoying. I'm a history buff and watch the show the collectibles that come in.

I've also wondered if Chumly or what ever his name is is really that dumb and clueless would they really keep him working there that long? Sure he is a family friend why would they trust him with the store and their money? Of course not.

It is easy to see what is scripted and what isn't.

I believe you have brain damage if you believe that.

The one that got me was when Chumlee was supposedly duped into believing he won $10,000 on a lottery ticket. He pulls off his shirt and quits because of his new "windfall". The guy probably makes 3-4 times that PER SHOW. He wouldn't quit. That was lame.
