I didn't grow up in America & had never heard of such a meal until I saw this series. Seems an odd combination. Does anyone remember this meal & is it still being served on American menus somewhere?

Um yeah, lol. Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles is a Los Angeles institution. I've also seen the dish in American cookbooks published in the early 1900s.

It's very much a Southern thing, a 'soul-food' thing, and it's still available and popular. I live in the Northeastern US, and gourmet versions are frequently offered on menus here. I had an awesome crunchy chicken and waffles with bourbon maple syrup recently.
