Consolidated Food?


Veda said she was speaking to them then Mildred says how long she'd been playing her cards. What did Consolidated Food have to do with Veda? Was that a company Mildred worked with?

That was the company that offered veda $2,500 per week. Her manager had
Turned them down because he made a deal for $500 with another company, cigarettes, I think. Mildred was accusing her of drawing out her throat issue to get out of the $500 deal and so make herself available for the other. My figures may be off a bit.

In those days virtually all radio programs had major sponsors who paid for them (and had a lot to say about who was on them, and content).
