better on it's second or third viewing...

While the film isn't perfect; it's better on it's second or third look. It does well to try to cover a feeling for the period. This was, an incredibly short story, as Williams died at age 29. A unique story of the postwar south. He didn't make the kind of money Elvis, Johnny Cash or Johnny Horton made; but, he was the first country rock star to make big money. Worth a look.

Agreed. Hiddleston and Olson really have that chemistry that Hank and Audrey must have had, and just kill. The script and editing could be better but their performances make up for it. He may not have William's twang and soul, but who does? His singing is really good and he's got the same angular features.

I've been listening to William's extraordinary catalog of songs, and I wish there had been more in the movie.
