The stolen 5,000 dollars

Wow. First off who leaves 5,000 dollars in cash in an unlocked trailer? I guess in 1969 it was different, and if you didn't know you wouldn't figure any money would even be in there. I guess they didn't trust banks being hippies. And I guess they trusted Linda!

I just watched this yesterday but missed the first few minutes. How did Linda's husband know that she was at Spahn ranch? I wonder if that really happened him going there and trying to get the money back? I don't recall ever reading about that or seeing it in any other documentaries or movies about Manson!

Wow, and how much would 5,000 dollars be equivalent to these days? That was a lot of money! Even for now if 5,000 was stolen it would be a big deal, but than OMG!!

The odd thing is some people do leave money out in the open like that. I don't get it either but I had a friend whose father would often leave hundreds of dollars laying around his home. I would go play at my friends house and would see it all over. This was in the 80s. His office had more cash laying around. I remember even as a kid of about 10 or 11 feeling tempted to take it. I never did but I often questioned it. My friend would just say her dad like to see his money and didn't trust banks. Of course now as an adult I wonder how much in all he had laying around, what his job was and why it wasn't in a bank. lol Kind of creeps me out now. Was he a bad guy?

My husband speaks of his granddad who didn't trust banks and he had money hidden around his farm yard. Like old stories say he would bury it in mason jars around his property. Often though this was change but it all adds up. After his granddad died they found a few copies of maps where they were buried and even to this day family finds jars around all of his land. Weird isn't it?
