Why didnt the producers tell him to ease up on the Mexican jokes?

The amount of mexican jokes were cringe worthy. Was he the only one writing the show? Couldnt they come up with some jokes for the rest of america? Its a national TV show being shown to people of all races, if he wants to make his ENTIRE show about latin culture then go to Univision where people can relate.

Not sure what happened to George Lopez, the George Lopez Show was good, the jokes could be applied to the average family while still having a mexican twist, but something changed and Lopez became obsessed with injecting mexico into every minuscule part of his act no matter how much of a stretch the connection was. Even his interviews with celebrities would always boil down to something mexican/latin for no reason other than to satisfy his addiction.

His obsession made everything predictable and repetitious, why didnt TBS tell him to cut it out or get a more diverse group of writers? It was a train wreck and they just sat there and watched it burn.
