Exceptional

This is superb television. So far, up to and including episode #6, it rivals, and in some cases surpasses, Ken Burn's "The War". It's done with dignity and intensity. Thank you History Channel.

Totally agree, exceptional. This war has always been reported and shown in black and white. The color films and narration are quite incredible.

This is the first ENTIRE series I've watched about WWII. Of course, I've seen other documentaries about it but this was the first one so well done that I stayed all the way through.

My only disappointment was with the lack of any mention of the USS Indianapolis. Once again, that tragedy was lost in the furor of dropping the Bombs and finally VJ day.

Well done. It made me cry more than once. I'd give it a 9 out of 10 but evidently IMDb isn't allowing ANY rating of it. There isn't even an "Awaiting 5 votes" where the rating normally is.

I thought the history channel was a lost cause after watching UFO hunters on veteran's day, but this gives me hope. This is, without exception, the best documentary about WWII I have ever seen. I was touched to see so many different angles covered, the pacific, europe, northern africa and even female nurses all in one documentary. Sinise has a liquid voice that seems perfect to tell the story of the most horrific war in history AND the "greatest generation" at the same time.
Well done History Channel. Well done.

I learnt the war started in 1941, which blew me away, as I always thought it started in '39. Schools eh?

I find that ducks opinion of me is very much influenced over whether or not i have bread.

It started in 39. It's America who entered the war an the end of 41. So both are true. I guess in school they taught when the real war started, not America's war.
