TV-14?!

Watching this for the second time, the rating shown at the top of the screen finally caught my eye. TV-14! I was amazed. Check any of my posts and you'll see I despise censorship, but some of the more graphic content of this series just seems like a bit much for a 14yr old kid to digest. Never mind the movies and FPS games they've grown up with. I just wonder how this series got that low rating.

Firstly it's a documentary and aims to 'educate' so it's treated differently and secondly any normal 14 year old should be fine with it.

It does seem ridiculous to me though that films like Aliens are rated higher when they're works of fiction, surely if people are gonna enforce these (completely absurd) age ratings it's worse to show REAL people dead and dying than actors.

i couldnt see much when the germans were executing those serbs. the hangings werent that bad. ive only watched ep1

Yeah I would think this would be appropriate for a 14 year old. I found quite a few shots in this film extremely disturbing, but as someone else said, its purpose is to educate, and I see this as a much more valuable way for a 14 year old to spend their time than playing a rated T video game.

And I plan to be forgotten when I'm gone, yes I'll be leaving in the fall

I would have made my 14 year old (if I had any) to watch it and learn to value the freedom we enjoy today, to do everything possible in his power to prevent and stand up against a possible war and to appreciate the sacrifices of those people that saved the whole world from tyranny.

Blu Ray is NR. so depends on what you saw was actually censored for a TV-14

that and to get TV-MA, usually nudity is there somewhere. but then again MPAA ratings now .. are absurd. It's a political rating. Has nothing to do with ages anymore. Hence why Bully was going to get an R and it was going to be absurd to stick a movie intended for those under 17 to get an R. so it's simply a political rating now. Common Sense tends to have better ratings.. That being said, if your apt to puking, don't eat while watching. I can't. Bad stomach. So I can watch it without much problems That and after Neda was murdered in Iran.. nothing in this film compares to it. Tv first censored it and missed the point. finally airing it after an uproar.

Its amazing, really about censorship. They can show women jumping to their death, rotting corpses, bodies burnt beyond recognition. But how dare they show an Okinawa toddler with no clothes on. They actually blur out his penis.

You're better then normal. You're abnormal.

A documentary that is purely intended to educate is very, VERY different from a shoot-em-up fictional movie that uses blood and gore purely for shock value. There are, indeed, graphic images... but, lest we forget, many of those graphic injuries were sustained by kids barely older than 14 years of age themselves. Yes, a parent should take care before letting their own children watch this, but, at least in my mind, allowing a 14-year-old to see exactly what his grandparents and great grandparents went through so he or she could live a life of relative luxury and relative peace and comfort... well, to me, that is a good thing.

Mind you, if you disagree, then, most definitely do not let your children watch. That is the point of the ratings.
