pity about the ending

I loved 70 minutes of this movie and couldn't wait to see how things turned out. In the last ten minutes however it turned into a different movie for me and I ended up disappointed at what could have been. Still a 6/10 but could have been an 8. I'll keep an eye out for the writer/director's future work though.

I just finished watching this movie about 10 minutes ago and completely agree with your comment. I found the first 70 or so minutes intense and engaging, and was glued to my seat, waiting to see how the movie resolved itself. However, the final 10 minutes were a complete disappointment. Not only that, but the feel of the last ten minutes was completely disconnected from the feel of the entire movie - almost as if it was just slapped onto the movie from nowhere. I actually cam online to see if there were alternate endings to this movie that were more in line with the rest of the feel, and not just the one that ended up in the final cut, which felt hastily tacked on because audiences wanted a "feel-good" ending.

I did feel the ending changed the flow of the movie, however, NETFLIX had it listed as a romance, so I was fine with it. Also, the car accident needed to be resolved.

I didn't think the car accident needed any kind of resolution. It was what it was. Well, not sure which one you meant, but still, it's just a means to an end.

I think I know where folks are coming from, being disappointed with the ending of the movie, but I have a different take on it. I found it refreshing... I sure didn't see it coming, which says something. And I liked it.

It took this from being some kind of sci-fi "what is going on?" type of movie to a pretty direct examination of humanity, faith, love, etc.

Like I said, I didn't expect it, but somehow after seeing it all put together, it made a kind of sense that I liked.

I guess that's not everyone's cup of tea. Maybe knowing ahead of time the "tone" of the ending, it could be appreciated more by folks who were expecting a different kind of movie?
