Pretentious Fanboy Logic

August Underground = Garbage made purely for shock value.
Trash Humpers = A deep work of art that represents reality.

I'm not so much angry at Trash Humpers or the director but I am very upset at the fans of this film.
We have real independent film directors like Brian Paulin and James Tucker who go through so much hard work to make their films and yet all they get is hated on despite all their efforts.

Meanwhile, trash like Trash Humpers have even less effort put into them and they get the pass for being artistic and the tired, overused excuse "It's meant to be that way."

Films have been made for over a century and so much time and effort was put into perfecting the art of filmmaking and in this sad modern age, all it results in is poorly made pretentious films with little effort such as Trash Humpers or August Underground.
It's also funny how one is praised for being artistic and the other is considered junk,
even though both films are exactly alike. The only difference is that August Underground doesn't lie to its viewers. It blatantly admits to being trashy just for the hell of it.
Trash Humpers masks itself with an art-house direction and for that, it automatically gets the pass.

The only people who call Trash Humpers a deep work of art are insecure film snobs who are too afraid to just admit that they like a vulgar and disgusting film.
The exact same thing happened with A Serbian Film when people called it a deep work of art when the truth of the matter is, they only use it as an excuse to admit that they like a movie with sexual abuse towards newborn babies.

People need to get over themselves and their insecurities and just admit that they like disgusting films and should stop lying to themselves.

I admit it, I like films with a lot of blood and nudity but unlike all the people on these message boards, I'm not ashamed to admit it.

I don't think it makes sense to compare Trash Humpers and AU. They're too different. I like Harmony Korine but I thought Trash Humpers was boring pointless crap that a group of 14 year olds could have made. But I actually liked AU. For what he was trying to do I think Fred Vogel pretty much hit the nail on the head.
