what did he say to her sister towards the end?

I couldn't really make it out...

thank you parriepenn, but that's actually the part I got !

I had it on today as I was making dinner and the stove fan was on, etc...the part I was referring to was right before saying that....he seemed to be threatening her or something and it looked like he had her "against the wall" so to speak.

He told her that a trial would get very nasty. Things would come out about her sister that shouldn't and then they might not convict. After all, I only need one juror to like me.

I'm paraphrasing of course.

He was making a deal with her to get the death penalty off the table.

Late reply, I know, but the movie is showing on LMN tonite, and taking what they're saying directly from the movie,
"I'll plead guilty to both murders, but I want concurrent life sentences."

"You had us all fooled -- charming doctor. You disgust me. You deserve to die."

"I know you, Heather. You don't like to gamble. You spend a week in Atlantic City and never touch a slot machine, and this trial? It's going to be rough. They're going to tear your sister down, and there's no guarantee they're going to find me guilty. So you have until tomorrow to get the DA to take death off the table. You tell anybody about this talk, I'll deny it. Screw around if you want to. Just remember, I only need one juror to like me."

Good acting by Rob Lowe of a completely unlikeable person. Read the book for the entire haunting true story.
