Did Rob Lowe Switch Accents?!

Is it just me, or did Rob Lowe suddenly switch into a southern accent once he was arrested and put in jail? I thought that maybe he had this accent the entire movie, but I think I would have noticed because once he was talking in the southern accent I couldn't help but think how dorky he sounded.
