A Little More Detail

Whilst I agree with many of the other comments on these boards regarding the films flaws*, I believe there is an aspect of complexity and 'horror' that has not been mentioned.

The semi-cliffhanger ending was necessary in culminating the possibility, not that Anderson Sr. was the murderer, but that it would be very possible for him to be framed for the deaths.

Also important to note are the last words of Kate, specific and unusually prominent scenes showing Anderson's interaction with various props, or on cameras, the implied history of Anderson telephoning the police, his alcoholism and suggested state of mind, and his obsession with violent youths attacking teachers and staff.

(SPOILERS)
Assuming that Anderson drives his daughter to hospital, naturally a sequence of events ought to ensue involving a report of the multiple murders and the "mystery attackers"

Note how Kat's last words are "I'll hate you forever if you do this" - Referring to if her father drives away without checking for, saving or waiting for her mother - This would be important, since Kate would be the only living witness to corroborate her father's bizarre description of events.
Especially if one considers that her mother dies, might she find cause to not testify alongside her father?

The physical/forensic evidence available will show Anderson as present and with MMO to commit each murder - his fingerprints on the deceased security guard's torch etc.

It wouldn't be difficult to make a case against Anderson as the culprit. The only thing perhaps, aside from Kate's testimony could be the (if assumed dead) body of the attacker that stabbed Kate - however, given Anderson's history as understood by the police, the youth may be considered little more than a 'scapegoat' victim of Anderson's.

*The antagonists are rather too well organised and creepy to be believably 'real', there was little sympathy for the protagonist, and the acting was somewhat wooden.

Someone on these boards mentioned that Kate said something accusing or implying that it was her father that stabbed her, I watched this movie on television just the other day, and cannot verify this, can anyone confirm if this is true or not? If so, might she be truly mistaken, or perhaps she blames her father as responsible for her having to remain at school, both initially for detention, but also because of having to write a report on the assault...

With TiVo it's possible to slow down / pause the scene where Kate is stabbed and see it's clearly not Anderson doing the stabbing.
